Trade rumors are heading up in the NFL, but it seems like New Orleans Saints running back Alvin Kamara is staying put.

Quite a few New Orleans Saints players have been linked to NFL trade rumors over the last few weeks, especially as the deadline quickly approaches.

One of the most sought after members of the Black and Gold is none other than star running back Alvin Kamara. Despite having a slower start to the season than in years past, the veteran face of the franchise still has the same shifty feet and overall toughness that he's had since the very beginning.

Last week, reports from NFL insider Ian Rapoport indicated that Kamara had discussed his future with general manager Mickey Loomis, expressing his desire to stay in New Orleans for the remainder of his career. How long that career could span remains a mystery, as the standout rusher is under contract with the team through the 2026 season.

Obviously, Kamara hadn't directly addressed the trade speculations publicly... until Thursday. In a Saints' media availability ahead of the team's Week 7 contest against the Chicago Bears, he had plenty to say, per Luke Johnson of The Times-Picayune

Of course, one of the most notable, iconic comments made regarded a choice alcoholic beverage.

"If I was a [general manager], I guess I would go to the player and say, 'Hey, we're trading you, just so you know,'" Kamara said. "So if Mickey [Loomis] comes down and says that, I'm going to go drink a piña colada somewhere."

This statement can technically be interpreted a few ways, but what Kamara means seems pretty obvious. He has absolutely no desire to be traded anywhere. If the New Orleans front office chooses to work out a deal elsewhere and move him for some future draft picks and an up-and-coming star... he's just going to leave and go chill out with a fruity drink.

That says plenty about Kamara's level of commitment to the Saints and their very loyal fanbase: he'd rather never play the sport he loves again than join a new team nearly a decade into his career. Very few professional football players -- let alone people in everyday professions -- would remain that devoted to a specific place.

So, assuming that Loomis follows his star's wishes, it's highly unlikely that Kamara will be retired from the league and sipping a piña colada on the beaches of Tampa Bay this time next month. Rather, he'll just have to stick to the Hurricanes and hand grenades that his beloved city is known for.
