Moore remains tight-lipped as the Saints face critical decisions regarding veteran free agents and the looming salary cap crunch.

The New Orleans Saints have their fair share of decisions to make this offseason. Among them, what to do with several veteran free agents for the 2026 season.

Questions about for several players like do-it-all athlete Taysom Hill, star defensive lineman Cameron Jordan and others who have been foundational pieces for the Saints for a long time. Now the question is what type of deals could occur and could we see those players re-signed or with extended contracts in the near future.

New Orleans head coach Kellen Moore is not revealing much about the team's plans. He and Saints general manager Mickey Loomis gave short answers when asked about re-signing key players this offseason.

Moore said the following of the Saints' potential moves.

“We'll talk through all that. The offseason is the offseason for a reason. You let the emotions get away from all these seasons and all that sort of stuff, and take some time, and we'll have plenty of discussions with everyone.”

Loomis added, "On the surface, we definitely want to have them back, but there are so many other variables."

What may not seem so complicated to some is more complex than it would show on the surface. The Saints have to navigate the salary cap, which has plagued them in recent seasons after spending big not that long ago. And they have to decide if it's more important to retain some of those foundational veteran pieces or improve through free agency.

Among consideration, can the Saints go out and get an impact player like Cincinnati's Trey Henderson or a player who adds value at a position of need? Some Saints observers would suggest that any position other than quarterback is a position of need. With that in mind, Loomis understands the Saints cannot simply bring everyone they want to bring back in 2026. Nor can they commit to any extensions for players for which they have great respect.

There's plenty to juggle with the current state of the franchise. More than needing significant upgrades, which may not be necessary given how well rookie quarterback Tyler Shough performed to end the season, New Orleans needs to make sure the salary cap situation is right. The Saints need to make good decisions not just to be financially responsible now, but the be able to go for a championship with a key addition in the future.

The Saints will look to make all the right moves over the upcoming months.
