Cam Jordan is officially returning to the Saints, giving New Orleans a familiar face and key veteran presence.

After plenty of uncertainty about his future with the franchise, Cam Jordan is officially returning to New Orleans to be a member of the Saints next season.

And this is huge news for the Saints and their fan base. Not only is Jordan still a productive defensive piece who can help this team, but he’s also basically the face of an entire era of football in New Orleans.

Jordan was drafted by the Saints in 2011, and since then, he has piled up countless milestones and accolades. He’s an eight-time Pro Bowler, a franchise great and the Saints’ all-time sack leader. So for him to be back in New Orleans, rather than finishing his career somewhere else, matters.

But the most interesting part of this isn’t that it’s just some ceremonial signing.

At 36 years old, Jordan isn’t the same elite defender he once was. That’s natural. But he can still contribute in a real way, especially in a rotational role. He played all 17 games last season and still has value as a veteran edge defender.

More than anything, the Saints need Jordan to be a veteran presence, a situational pass rusher, a mentor for younger defensive linemen and a culture-setter in a locker room that’s entering a brand-new era.

That part is important.

New Orleans has a newer coaching staff, a newer quarterback situation and plenty of change happening throughout the organization. In the middle of all of that, Jordan is a stabilizing presence. He’s a familiar face, he’s beloved by the fan base and he knows what this franchise is supposed to look like when things are going well.

The one-year, incentive-laden deal was finalized after Jordan returned to the Saints building on Tuesday with hopes of working something out. Now, the two sides have done exactly that.

Jordan will be a New Orleans Saint again next season, and that feels like the way this chapter should continue.

The Saints aren’t expected to be contenders next season, but he’s the type of leader who will leave his mark on every rookie and new player that walks through the door. Having Jordan around for even one more season will radiate a high impact beyond just 2026.
