Still, a position of need.

Going into the 2026 NFL Draft, the New Orleans Saints had needs throughout the roster. It was going to be difficult for the Saints to attack all of their needs and fix everything for next season, but they actually did a pretty good job in the draft. With the picks, it seems the Saints were really going with the best players avialable, but ones that could fit needs. Reaching was not apart of the Saints' plans, but because of that, some of the more glaring issues on the roster were not adressed.

Looking at the roster, CB is an issue. EDGE could be on that list, but the additions of Tyree Wilson and Anfernee Jennings do make that group a bit better. For CB, the Saints did add TJ Hall in the 7th round of the draft, and he should be some depth on the outside, but the slot is still an issue. Hall has some potential to play there, but if the Saints just want a guaranteed fix in that area, they may need to look outside the building.

One of the names that was being floated around draft week was Indianapolis Colts CB Kenny Moore II. The talented DB requested a trade, and it seemed like he could be on his way out sooner rather than later. A trade never materialized during the draft, but Moore II should still be on the market, and it may be perfect for the Saints. Obviously, the price is going to matter, but let's look at the thought process of making this deal.

Moore would be the best CB on the Saints roster right away, and his presence in the locker room could go a long way for this team. Although he is 31 before the season begins, he is still a very good slot corner in the NFL, and he would fill a massive need for the Saints. Also, his contract is up after this season.

A few things could stop this deal. First, the price. If the Colts are asking for any day 1 or 2 picks in 2027, no conversations should be held. That would be too much to give up, and the Saints would be better off either trading a player for Moore or hanging up the phone. Next is how the Saints feel about Hall. If they view him as a ready-to-start slot (or outside CB and move one of the starters to the slot), then Moore II would be off the table.

Another factor that could stop this move from happening is what Brandon Staley wants to do in the slot. It seems the Saints could go with playing a safety in that area instead, so going for Moore II would not make sense if the team still wants to do that.
