Now that it is mostly complete, let's see how the Saints did.

Free agency is far from being over, but most of the New Orleans Saints' signings are complete. The roster needed to be upgraded, and it needed to happen quickly. The Saints have a QB on a rookie deal and need to take advantage of that.

Plus, with cap space close to normal, GM Mickey Loomis was able to make any signing he wanted during this free agency, while also being smart with the money. This resulted in a really great free agency class, and here is how each new signing graded.

David Edwards

For the first signing we are going to talk about, this is the Saints' most expensive acquisition. By bringing in Edwards at a really good deal, the Saints fixed their LG position for the next four years. With how horrible the interior offensive line was last season, this addition was necessary, and now, the Saints can not worry about the offensive line nearly as much next season

Grade: A

Travis Etienne

At first glance, the contract given to Etienne was a bit expensive, but it turned out to be a pretty good deal. It's more like a 2 year deal that allows the Saints to get out if need be. At first, it looked like a 4-year contract, and it still can be, but because Etienne is 27, a potential RB fall-off is closer than not.

Grade: B+

Kaden Elliss

The main defensive addition to the roster was LB Kaden Elliss, and after Demario Davis left in free agency, this became a vital move. Elliss, turning 31 before the season starts, is a great addition, especially with his leadership and high-level play, but a 3-year contract for a player this age is a bit risky. If he can have a Davis-level of longevity, at least for the next three years, that's fine, but it is hard to really feel great about that happening.

Grade: B-

Noah Fant

This was a bit less significant a signing, but still important. Noah Fant will be TE2 next season, and with his red zone ability, he will be a great addition to that room. This was the equivalent of adding a WR in free agency, and although it helped a need, the Saints should still look for another TE addition.

Grade: B

Ty Chandler

Probably the most under-the-radar new signing the Saints made this offseason was Ty Chandler. Although the RB room probably won't change with Chandler being brought in, this move is good insurance if Alvin Kamara leaves. Also, Chandler will be a weapon on special teams.

Grade: C+

Ryan Wright

Last, but certainly not least, Ryan Wright is one of the most impactful signings the Saints made this offseason. Punting was a major issue last season, and it cost games. The Saints have attempted to rely on UDFA's to fill their punting needs, but it hasn't worked. Finally, an investment was made, and it was a great one.
