NFL Analyst Predicts Saints' Top Free Agent Addition cover image

One analyst forecasts a significant offensive weapon joining the Saints, bolstering their receiving corps and adding a dynamic red-zone threat.

It's free agent acquisition prediction season in the NFL. The New Orleans Saints (6-11) figure to be involved in the chaos this year.

Some are speculating on what position the team will target with a handful of positions in which to improve.

Certainly, the Saints have to be mindful of contingency plans for aging stars like running back Alvin Kamara and defensive lineman Cameron Jordan. Jordan had a resurgence in 2025, and Kamara can certainly still play, but eventually new faces will have to play in their place.

Ryan Guthrie of "Pro Football Network" knows what position he thinks the Saints could target. Guthrie predicts New Orleans will add a wide receiver in San Francisco playmaker Jauan Jennings. Here was the justification given for the move.

"San Francisco won’t fall for it again.

After committing big money to Brandon Aiyuk, the Niners let Jauan Jennings walk. While his WR Impact Score (71.1) ranked No. 77, he scored nine touchdowns in limited action. Pairing him with Chris Olave gives Tyler Shough another red-zone threat."

Adding a receiver certainly helps the Saints, and the team could get value with a player of Jennings' caliber. While New Orleans fans would probably like to see a player with No. 1 receiver potential added and probably would need that to happen through the draft, Jennings would give the position room a higher floor as a true No. 2 target.

Tyler Shough proved to be able to make do with what he had at quarterback in his first season in 2025. Albeit adding even a modest upgrade to the receiver corps could make a huge difference for the signal caller.

Guthrie has another familiar name going somewhere in free agency. The writer predicts Cincinnati Bengals and former New Orleans Saints pass rusher Trey Hendrickson to the Dallas Cowboys with the following reasoning.

"Dallas already added Quinnen Williams, but balance is still needed. Instead of paying top dollar for a receiver, they invest in pass rush.

Hendrickson made four straight Pro Bowls in Cincinnati and recorded 17+ sacks in back-to-back seasons earlier in his career. Even in a down year statistically (4 sacks), he posted an elite 86.4 score, ranking 12th on the PFSN NFL EDGE Impact metrics. The Cowboys need that consistency."

Hendrickson will be a player to monitor for the Saints as well.

New Orleans is not far from contention in the NFC South. It will look to inch closer to the top with meaningful additions this offseason.
