Saints could have another great day 3.

With finally some financial freedom to utilize in free agency, the New Orleans Saints addressed some of their biggest needs on the roster. This was a refreshing sight, especially after finishing the season so strongly, and QB Tyler Shough looked like the real deal. HC Kellen Moore has been excellent at identifying what needs to be fixed on the roster and utilizing the resources to get it done, and the NFL Draft should be no different.

On Thursday, the Saints signed EDGE Chris Rumph back to the team, and although this was not a game-changing move, it did improve the team's depth. This allows the Saints even more flexibility going into the draft.

So, with that new addition to the team, the Saints' remaining needs are EDGE, WR, CB, OG, LB, and DT. In the 2026 NFL Draft, New Orleans currently has 8 picks, and the team can still make trades that lower or increase that number, but for now, they have enough ammo to hit every need and more.

Now, let's figure out what positions the Saints could target on day 3. In the first round, there's a good chance the Saints address CB or EDGE, and in the second or third round, WR is likely. Let's say they get all of those positions done because they are clear priorities. On day 3, that would leave OG, LB, DT, and I would still put EDGE for depth.

With those positions in mind, here is a day-3 mock draft for the Saints:

#132 - OG Jalen Farmer

The first position of need attacked is guard, and this pick could be the move that allows the Saints to trade Cesar Ruiz at some point. Jalen Farmer is a Senior Bowl participant, has great length, and tested really well at the combine. He may need to sit for a little while, but in a pinch, he could start if needed.

#136 - EDGE Romello Height

As I mentioned, the Saints addressing EDGE earlier is great, but adding even more depth is still needed. The Saints are missing a guy who can just go out there on passing downs and completely blow up the play, and that's Romello Height.

#150 - DT Nick Barrett

The next need to be addressed is DT, and although the Saints could draft a more pass-rush-focused prospect here, the run game needs improvement, and they need someone who can replace Davon Godchaux when he leaves. Nick Barrett is that player.

#172 - LB Keyshaun Elliott

Another Senior Bowl prospect, Keyshaun Elliot, is an athletic LB who disrupts the run. The Saints were able to bring in Kaden Elliss, which was a great move, but LB behind him gets a bit scary. Pete Werner could be a trade candidate, and the other LBs, such as Danny Stutsman and Isaiah Stalbird, are unproven as starters.

#190 - TE Josh Cuevas

Similar to what the Saints did last year with Moliki Matavao, throwing a dart at the end of the draft for a TE is a good move to make. Depth at this position is still needed, and Josh Cuevas could be that player. He was a Senior Bowl participant, has speed, is a good blocker, and has some run-after-the-catch ability.
