Who could change the game on Sunday?
Week 5 of the New Orleans Saints season is nearly here, and their opponent is the Minnesota Vikings. Coming into this matchup, the Vikings are 4-0 and have one of the best defenses in the NFL. Their offense is also dangerous with Jordan Addison, T.J. Hockenson, and the returning Justin Jefferson. This is far from an easy matchup for the Saints, and many of the Vikings' strengths target the Saints' weaknesses.
Still, like any game, there's potential for at least some players to have big games, and here are a few that stand out as options.
Tyler Shough
I'm going to keep doing it. Each time the Saints have played this game, it has been a potentially good matchup for Shough. Now, I will note, the Saints do have to deal with the Vikings’ blitzing, which is going to be extremely hard to do, but Shough will be basically forced into carrying this team once again. The run game will likely not have success, and the defense will need to try to keep this game close. The Saints will rely on their passing game, and with the Vikings’ CB group being a weaker part of the defense, it could allow for Shough to have some big plays.
Chase Young
Similar to Shough, Chase Young has been a recurring player on this list, and Sunday may be one of his best opportunities to have a big game. Kyler Murray, the Vikings QB, was sacked 5 times by a Saints defensive line without Young. Murray is a QB that can be subject to sacks due to his movement in the pocket, and the Vikings offensive line has dealt with injuries. If Murray does hold onto the ball a bit longer, this could be where Young changes the game.
Christen Miller
This is my interesting selection for potential standouts. Christen Miller, the rookie DT out of Georgia, has not played a game in the regular season. He has dealt with injuries, and in his first week back, which was his last game against the Falcons, he was a healthy scratch. This was a confusing decision to say the least, but the reasoning from the coaching staff was that he need to become more accustomed to the defense, similar to a new signing. So, with a fully healthy practice week, Miller should be able to play, and if he does, this could be a great game from him.
As I mentioned, the Vikings have been dealing with offensive line injuries. Their RB, Aaron Jones, is a pretty good RB, but not as good as what this team has faced so far this season, so it may be a good starting game for Miller.
