A perfect opportunity could fall to the Saints in the second round.

After the NFL Combine, mock drafts around the NFL World begin to change. This could be due to good/bad performances, new measurements that could hurt or help a prospect, and interviews that go well or are really disappointing. Also, adding everything that happens with prospects, along with what agents, scouts, or coaches say about them, completely changes the draft boards.

One position that was a bit all over the place at the combine was the WR group. Going into last week, the thought process with the WRs in this draft was that the three at the top (Carnell Tate, Jordyn Tyson, Makai Lemon) were all great prospects, but not quite top-tier like we see in other classes. Each had their own issues that could make teams less confident about selecting them. This could have hurt the group as a whole, but the class was believed to be really deep this year.

After the combine, both of these beliefs were reinforced. Tyson did not participate due to his injury. Tate measured a bit shorter (6-foot-2) and did not run a great 40-yard dash (4.53). Rumors have been spreading that Lemon did not have good interviews with teams. Although the last one cannot really be proven at this point, the fact that it is out there is a concern.

With the top-end defensive prospects having a great combine, RB Jeremiyah Love showing why he's worth a top 5 selection, and the offensive line set to have some risers into the top of the draft, WR may be bumped out of the top 10. Tate is still the one with the highest odds to become a top 10 selection, but there is now a real chance he could fall.

If that does happen, a sudden drop of all WR prospects in the first round, including the ones who were supposed to be selected around the 20s (Omar Cooper, Chris Bell, KC Concepcion, and Denzel Boston).

With the Saints having an early second-round selection, a massive drop of all the WRs would be an excellent outcome. If that fall does happen, there will be a run of WRs early in the second round before the Saints' selection, which may cause New Orleans to trade up a bit, but that would not be a bad outcome. The potential of getting a player like Denzel Boston, who should go in the first round, in the second round is too good to pass up.
