Could be a perfect option in the second round for New Orleans.

The New Orleans Saints were able to address many of their offensive needs in free agency this offseason, but WR is still a glaring issue on the roster. Getting another playmaker to partner with QB Tyler Shough is a necessity for 2026, and with the draft class ebing really deep at WR, the Saints can attack this issue in any round. Still, getting it done sooner rather than later would be smart, but an interesting scenario could come up in the second round.

With WR, TE is also still a positional need on the roster. Juwan Johnson had a great first year in Kellen Moore's offense, and the team did sign Noah Fant in free agency, but there is no long-term TE option on the roster. Also, just adding another playmaker to that room would create more flexibility in the offense.

So, considering TE and WR as positions the Saints need to address, Vanderbilt's Eli Stowers could be a perfect option in the second round.

Recently, a report from Ian Rapoport stated that some NFL teams view Stowers as a WR. With his athleticism, versatility throughout the offense, and catching ability, Stowers has the traits to make a positional switch. What would really push teams to make the change is his blocking, which is less than ideal.

With the 42nd overall selection, the Saints picking Stowers would make sense. He would be a dynamic playmaker in the Saints' offense, be utilized as a WR and TE, and be a long-term option for when Johnson is no longer on that team. Right away, Stowers could be slotted into that WR2 role on the roster.

The other positive of making this selection is the pressure it takes off of getting a true WR. Although selecting Stowers in the second round does not take away the need at WR, it allows the Saints to wait and select one later in the draft. They can do that in the third round and really complete their group of pass catchers, or that third-round pick can be used on a player they view as the best available. With the WR depth being a strenght of the class, the Saints could get a high-upside playmaker on day 3 who can fight for starting snaps early in the season.

Some of those options are Lewis Bond, Cyrus Allen, Deion Burks, Caleb Douglas, Tyren Montgomery, and Josh Cameron. Any of these players on day 3 could be excellent options if the Saints end up going with Stowers earlier in the draft.
