A potential UDFA gem.

Like any other offseason, some UDFAs start to perform and get their name out there among local media. For the New Orleans Saints, this is always a very exciting time because the front office has been very good at identifying unknown talent. Names like Rashid Shaheed and Carl Granderson stand out as recent successes for the Saints, and the next one could be right around the corner.

When the original UDFA class was revealed, there were some standout names, and the Zxavian Harris signing was noteworthy going into the rookie mini camp. But in the end, it may actually be a rookie that was signed after the camp was complete. One of the standout names at the Saints' rookie mini camp was WR Brock Rechsteiner. The son of WWE legend Scott Steiner (Scott Rechsteiner), Rechsteiner has the athletic ability that has made his family famous in the wrestling world. Once the ball is in his hands, Rechsteiner can speed past defenders and make big plays happen out of nowhere.

It is very noteworthy that the Saints invited Rechsteiner, saw what he could do on the field, and were impressed enough to sign him. Like any other WR on the roster, Rechsteiner is now going to have the ability to fight for a spot on the roster, but it is not going to be easy, especially on the Saints.

After selecting Jordyn Tyson, Bryce Lance, and Barion Brown in the NFL Draft, the Saints' WR room is nearly filled. Last offseason, the Saints took six WRs going into the season, and that would be the expectation again. If that does stay true, 5 WRs already have their spot solidified: Chris Olave, Tyson, Devaughn Vele, Lance, and Brown. Yes, Brown is a bit more up in the air, but what he brings on special teams will be too important for the team that he will have a spot in that group, and he can be a good WR in this league, so the offensive potential is there. That leaves one spot left, and the WRs fighting for that spot are Kevin Austin Jr., Damien Alford, Ja'Lynn Polk, Trey Palmer, Bub Means, Mason Tipton, Ronnie Bell, and Rechsteiner. This is all the WRs fighting for that one spot, so Rechsteiner's path to making the 53-man roster is nowhere near clear enough to be confident in it happening, but everything can change in camp and preseason.

Rechsteiner will be a name to watch for the rest of the offseason.
