Seahawks defensive end DeMarcus Lawrence was one name we weren't sure would return in 2026, but as it turns out, it was an easy decision for the veteran.

Seattle Seahawks' defensive end DeMarcus Lawrence must feel vindicated for swapping the Dallas Cowboys for the now Super Bowl champs.

Lawrence made the move last offseason after over a decade with the Cowboys, and he did make waves with his comments, stating he wasn't going to win a Super Bowl in Dallas.

Well, a year later, he was proven right as he hoisted the Lombardi Trophy as part of Mike Macdonald's stellar defense.

Lawrence played his part, starting 16 games, notching 6.0 sacks, two fumble recoveries that ended in touchdowns, 20 quarterback hits, and 11 tackles for loss, both of which were his highest in those categories since 2020.

But at 33 years old, some were wondering if "D-Law" would be returning to Seattle, despite being just one year into his three-year, $42 million deal.

Coming off a Super Bowl win, you could make the case that Lawrence would be well within his rights to ride off into the sunset and retire.

But he knew early on that he'd be back.

“Being able to reach the top and understanding that my body still has more to give, I still have more to give,” Lawrence said via the team's official website. “And also, I had the most fun I’ve ever had playing football last year. So just taking all of that into consideration, knowing what I’d be leaving behind, the chances [of retirement] were very slim.”

Some fans were concerned about Lawrence's future as he didn't appear at the beginning of OTAs, but he stated that he was helping his wife as the couple has a one-year-old and a newborn, so DeMarcus was helping out with some quality family time, something the Seahawks knew.

Now that Lawrence's future is sorted, he will be a key cog in Macdonald's defense as the Seahawks look to "run it forward" in 2026.

Last year is gone, and the Seahawks have now gone from the hunter to the hunted, and that brings on its own set of challenges, but there isn't much doubt that Seattle will be able to handle anything that is thrown at them. This is a tight-knit roster that now has the thirst for winning.

And I'd imagine that after taking over a decade to reach the summit of the NFL, Lawrence's drive to get back there again remains as high as ever.
