Rookie guard Beau Stephens has gotten his first taste of an NFL offseason workout, and it's fair to say he's loving it.

Seattle Seahawks rookie guard Beau Stephens is taking everything in his stride as the Super Bowl champs have begun their rookie minicamp.

At this time of year, the rookies get everything thrown at them, from conditioning to the playbook; it is a lot to take on, both mentally and physically.

However, Stephens is taking it all in his stride.

A fifth-round selection, the expectations of Beau aren't yet known, but there have been some murmurs that he could push right guard Anthony Bradford this offseason for a potential starting role.

But for that to happen, he's got to get the attention of his coach, which means doing everything asked of him at this early stage of the offseason.

Which can be a little hard when it finally dawns on you that you're in the NFL.

“Walking out there, it's pretty surreal,” Stephens said of his first practice. "I'm just literally walking around in circles because I was the first one out there and I'm just looking around. I'm like, "Wow, this is going to be where I'm at for a couple years," hopefully for a very long time.

"But it's really eye-opening to see a jersey with your number on it, with your name on the back, there's no better feeling than that other than winning games. I'm just really happy."

With Stephens now beginning to get his feet under him as he learns the offensive playbook, which he states is similar to the one he learned at Iowa, the transition has been a little easier from a verbiage standpoint.

But the big question is where he we play along that offensive line.

As minicamp began, Stephens saw himself on the right-hand side, which is where many believe he will eventually set up shop for Seattle.

But does he envision staying at right guard?

"It's too early to tell," Stephens said. "They obviously have a really good left guard (Grey Zabel), so I'm assuming. But depth charts never mean anything at this time of year, so it's something you just got to keep working for."

It has been a good start to life as an NFL player for Stephens, but there is still a long way to go if he is to get to where he wants to be.

But right now, he's just soaking it all in, as a member of the Super Bowl-winning Seahawks.
