Dante Fowler Jr. is now a Seahawk, and he revealed how came to the decision to join Mike Macdonald's team.
When the Seattle Seahawks signed veteran Dante Fowler Jr., many saw it as a shrewd, depth addition to Mike Macdonald's defense.
With DeMarcus Lawrence and Leonard Williams as the top two on the depth chart, the Seahawks needed another body, but also one who can be productive when called upon.
Fowler wasn't great with the Dallas Cowboys last season, then again, not many were, and now he comes to the Seahawks looking to kickstart his career.
A one-year deal, worth up to $5 million, isn't much, but when you have a chance to win a Super Bowl, you take it.
But how did Fowler Jr. come to his decision to choose the Seahawks?
Well, as it turns out, his former Cowboys teammate, Lawrence, played a key role in his decision to choose the NFC West franchise, and his reasoning was impeccable.
"If you want to win a Super Bowl, you should come here," Fowler said of DeMarcus' message to him via the teams official website.
And that is sound advice, as Lawrence's now infamous "Dallas is my home... but I know for sure I'm not going to win a Super Bowl there" quote rings in our ears.
And after 2025, he's not wrong, as he tasted Super Bowl glory after leaving the Cowboys, and now Fowler Jr. is hoping lightning can strike twice.
But as it turns out, Lawrence wasn't the only motivating factor for Dante to come to Seattle; Aden Durde, the defensive coordinator, was as well.
"Me and him have a really great relationship going all the way back to when I was playing with the Falcons, and when we had a really great defense with the Cowboys," Fowler said. "So just being able to come and play for him again as a defensive coordinator is really cool."
Fowler will look to be a key cog in the Seahawks' defensive machine under Macdonald, and while he likely won't be a starter, a top-of-the-rotation piece is what Dante's role will likely be.
The Seahawks needed another veteran presence, and Fowler certainly brings that. The question is how much juice does he have left in the tank?
