The Seahawks had a plan entering the offseason and managed to tick off all the items on their to-do list.
As the offseason began, it became rather clear what the Seattle Seahawks' main priority was.
With a couple of free agents leaving, the Seahawks' plan was not to replace them with free agents but rather to draft their replacements and invest in the players already on the roster.
Kenneth Walker, Boye Mafe, Riq Woolen, and Coby Bryant were all allowed to walk out the door, and the Seahawks, in a sense, drafted their replacements.
Now, going by the law of averages, not all are going to "hit" as such, but such is how the Seahawks' roster is constructed that Mike Macdonald's defense isn't predicated on one star playing well.
It's a whole team defense.
And for Sports Illustrated's Albert Breer, when assessing the Seahawks' offense, it has been a rather good one.
"The world champion Seahawks, as I saw it, had three clear areas that became needs this offseason: running back, safety and corner, with the departures of Kenneth Walker III, Coby Bryant and Tariq Woolen," Breer wrote.
"Accordingly, running back Jadarian Price, safety Bud Clark and corner Julian Neal were their first three draft picks, and all three will be guys to watch in late July and August. And another storyline, one that’ll tie back to Price, will be Zach Charbonnet’s return from a torn ACL."
So, as we head into training camp, there isn't much Seattle fans will be nervous about on the roster.
Running back could be one if you wanted to make a case, with Price and a group of career backups currently at Brian Fleury's disposal.
Emanuel Wilson, George Holani and Kenny McIntosh, along with Price, will be the Seahawks' stable of backs until Zach Charbonnet is fully recovered from his ACL injury.
How that group fares could be key in how well the Seahawks go early in the season, as we know what a weapon Walker was for the offense last year.
As training camp comes into view, the defending champs appear to be in a good spot, having ticked off most items on their offseason list, and if they can get through the offseason injury-free, they're every chance to start the new season off with a bang.
