The Seattle Seahawks just beat the New England Patriots in Super Bowl LX to claim their second Vince Lombardi Trophy in franchise history, which means that they are the team to beat in 2026.
But that does not mean that the team cannot improve during the offseason.
In a recent article by Bleacher Report's Moe Moton, he outlines the dream trade scenario for every NFL team this offseason. For the reigning Super Bowl champions, he thinks they should trade for some receiver depth in Falcons veteran Darnell Mooney.
"As Kubiak moves on to be the Las Vegas Raiders head coach, (Rashid) Shaheed could follow him there. Regardless, the Seahawks receiver corps needs some speed, even if the team has high hopes for 2025 fifth-rounder Tory Horton," Moton writes. "In 2021, Mooney eclipsed 1,000 receiving yards with the Chicago Bears. He's not a lead wideout, but the 28-year-old doesn't have to be that alongside rising star receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba."
Seattle had perhaps the best wide receiver in the league this past season in JSN, but the team could use some depth behind him to take some of the pressure off of the young superstar.
And trading for a veteran wideout like Mooney could be exactly what the doctor ordered.
While he has obviously never been the centerpiece of an offense, Mooney definitely gets the job done. He tallied 443 yards on 32 receptions in 2025, which means that he got an average of just under 14 yards per reception.
With the Seahawks potentially losing one of their big play guys in Shaheed to free agency, Mooney could come right in and fill that role for the reigning NFC and Super Bowl champs.
The dream trade scenario for Seattle may not involve a blockbuster superstar, but it reflects a savvy recognition of team needs: surround young talent with reliable veterans and keep the offense potent.
If the Seahawks manage to add a quality receiver and continue building around their core, next season could see them push deep into the playoffs yet again. Seattle could be in store for more Super Bowl appearances, and maybe more wins.
