The Seahawks managed to outlast a fast-finishing Chargers team in a game filled with penalties.

The Seattle Seahawks have got themselves back on the winner's list with a 30-23 win over the Los Angeles Chargers at Lumen Field on Sunday.

With Mike Macdonald's defense terrorizing Justin Herbert and the Chargers offense as they picked him off with the first pass of the game, they held L.A. to just six points in the first half.

Conversely, Brian Fleury's offense got rolling after an early Sam Darnold interception, taking a 20-6 lead into halftime.

And Seattle continued the pain in the third quarter, scoring a touchdown to go up 27-6, and for most, that was the game.

But the Chargers didn't quit, and Herbert led a comeback for the ages, getting within striking distance late in the game with a little over a minute left and the score at 30-23 in Seattle's favor.

However, a fumble ended L.A's chances and now it now drops to 0-4.

Here is the good, bad, and ugly from Seattle's win.

The Good - Seattle's dominant first half:

After the early wobbles, the offense got rolling as they scored two touchdowns on their final three first-half possessions.

To have such a commanding lead at the half, was exactly what the doctor ordered and in truth, that was the catalyst for the win.

Jaxon Smith-Njigba got rolling, and so did Emanuel Wilson as the Seahawks' lead back, putting serious separation between them and a winless team fighting for its life.

The Bad - Second half fade out:

After the Seahawks scored a touchdown to push the lead to 21, things went south as the defense struggled to stop Herbert, and the Chargers' offense scored on all three of its second-half possessions (except the fumble).

Such was Seattle's inability to move the ball, punting on two of their three fourth-quarter possessions (the third was a kneel-down), that the Chargers were allowed back into the game.

And what's worse, late, when all Seattle had to do was run the ball and eat up clock, Darnold got pass happy, and if it wasn't for a silly Chargers' penalty, things could have been a whole lot worse.

The Ugly - Those penalties:

I'm going to lump L.A. in here as well. 30 penalties, folks. That is the total from four quarters of football.

There were 14 for 150 yards from Seattle and 16 for 130 yards for the Chargers as the laundry was flying thick and fast at Lumen Field.

That simply can't happen.

Too many self-inflicted wounds on both sides of the ball make this Week 4 encounter a little sloppy.
