The Seahawks struggled to get anything going on the ground in Washington, but is it a cause for concern?
The Seattle Seahawks' run game was always going to be a fascinating watch this season given the changes in personnel and in the coaching staff.
With a new offensive coordinator in Brian Fleury, Kenneth Walker now with the Kansas City Chiefs, and Zach Charbonnet out for at least the first half of the season with an ACL injury, the run game was going to look very different.
And totals of 97, 162, and then 44 against the Washington Commanders, you can say that the rushing attack has been up-and-down.
Jadarian Price (119 yards), Emanuel Wilson (109), and George Holani (52) haven't exactly been consistent in their form, but it is only Week 4.
But is head coach Mike Macdonald panicking about how the run game looked against Washington?
"It's a process, if you had of asked me this last week, we ran the ball 45 times for x amount of yards, closed the game out, we're excited," Macdonald said. "Sometimes you just don't get the run game off the ground in a certain game, you don't hit the panic button, you just go back to work and try to find more solutions, and go try to make it better.
"Keep pounding away on the details and it'll come to life."
We only have to look back at the Arizona Cardinals game where Seattle rushed for 162 yards to see that the rushing attack can produce.
And against New England in Week 1, 97 yards isn't anything to scoff at; it was just how bottled up the run game was against the Commanders that was a little alarming.
But Macdonald doesn't seem to be bothered by it, and given the conditions, you would have expected the Seahawks to run the ball more, but they didn't, with Sam Darnold having 45 pass attempts.
Still, there is more than enough to suggest there is a viable run game for Fleury to lean on, but it's just a matter of getting it to show itself more consistently.
