The Seahawks had nearly 100 percent attendance for their offseason work, and Williams feels that things are starting to come together for the champs culture-wise.
The offseason for the Seattle Seahawks has been rather uneventful, just as the Super Bowl champs would have wanted.
We often see, sometimes, when a team reaches the top of the mountain, that standards might slip, even slightly, and in a league where everyone is striving to get better, sometimes that is all that needs to happen for you to slip into the chasing pack.
But not these Seahawks.
The franchise has had nearly a 100 percent attendance across OTAs and then minicamp, as the thirst to go back-to-back is real.
Of course, it is early in the offseason, but everything we've heard about Mike Macdonald's team and its mental approach has been exactly as you would expect, and that's elite.
And for defensive stud Leonard Williams, the entire program thus far has been superb, with the locker room becoming more united.
"I feel like it's been great," Williams said via ESPN. "It's been great attendance from the leaders, from the older guys. Young guys have been working hard, trying to be sponges of the game and learn as much as possible. To me, I really just see our culture elevate to another level. I feel like last year we started putting the mix together, all the ingredients and all that type of stuff.
"This year, you really see it boiling and becoming more just of a foundation. To me, the culture is the biggest thing that we need here. Guys are going to come and go ... I feel like if we have a culture and foundation like that, we'll always be a winning team."
Culture is a big part of professional sports, and while it might mean different things for different teams, it is clear that what Macdonald is building is now taking shape.
Last season was great on so many levels, but the mentality and drive that Macdonald has instilled in his team will be what powers it not only through those long, arduous days of training camp, but the regular season as well.
Williams can already see the culture becoming the foundation of what Seattle is trying to do, and for some, that is half the battle, getting everyone bought in and on the same page.
Time will tell if the Seahawks will be as good as they were last season, but from a mentality and culture standpoint, it feels like this offseason, that's gone up a level.
