Price comes to Seattle needing to produce from the outset, and that brings a whole new set of pressures for the rookie.
Unless you are drafted at the top of the first round, most NFL rookies get a soft landing into the NFL, but Seattle Seahawks running back Jadarian Price might not get that in his rookie season.
Taken with the 32nd overall pick, Price comes to a Seahawks team that needs to be productive from Day 1, which isn't always easy for rookies.
From getting to know his teammates to learning the playbook and then executing on the field, Price has it all to do in Year 1.
Yes, some draft experts believe Price is a genuine starter in the league, but for most running backs, it takes a little while to feel comfortable at that level.
Being bit-part players early on helps get their feet wet, before they transition into a starting role, and away they go.
But for Price, he might not get a grace period, as CBS Sports' Josh Edwards has named him as one of a handful of rookies who are under pressure to succeed in their first year.
"I spent most of the pre-draft process stating Price to Seattle was the scenario in which a second running back broached the first round," Edwards wrote. "Initially, the Notre Dame product was not on the list, because the Seahawks are prone to running back by committee. However, there is a lot of production to replace following the loss of Kenneth Walker III and the torn ACL Zach Charbonnet suffered in January.
"The team's willingness to take the player late Round 1, when it was thought he could be available a bit later, was indicative of their need for help. Similar to Love, there is little grace for running backs and success is expected early."
Now, what we determine as "succeeding' for Price could vary.
Is he going to be the three-down back for Brian Fleury? Not likely. But a key cog in the offense? Sure.
With Zach Charbonnet out for the first portion of the season as he recovers from an ACL injury, it will be up to Price, Emanuel Wilson, George Holani, and Kenny McIntosh to be the ones who give Sam Darnold some sort of production in the run game.
Of course, considering Price is a first-round pick, everyone will look to him as the best in that group, and once Charbonnet returns, the pair will look to form a strong partnership.
But until Zach returns, it does feel like a lot is on Price's shoulders from the get-go.
Time will tell if he can handle having no grace period to begin his NFL career.
