The Seattle Seahawks brought some help to their offensive line after a trade netted them Iowa's Beau Stephens at No. 148.
Following a trade with the Cleveland Browns, the Seattle Seahawks got an unexpected fifth-round selection. The reigning Super Bowl champions quickly flipped the pick for Iowa offensive lineman Beau Stephens at No. 148 overall.
Stephens spent his entire career in Iowa City and grew into a machine up front for the Hawkeyes, especially in his final season.
He started all 13 games for Iowa at left guard, which moved his total career starts to 34. With Stephens and the rest of the offensive line, the Hawkeyes rushed for 200 yards across five different games.
Following these efforts, he earned not only All-Big Ten honors in 2025, but was a member of several All-America First and Second Teams from various media outlets. As a group, Stephens also brought home the Joe Moore Award, which honors the nation's best offensive line.
For Seattle, Stephens provides depth on the line, as it looks to reload and make another run at a Super Bowl title. Early assessments have the Seahawks pegged as a middle-of-the-pack unit, with Stephens and any other pieces added later helping to boost their talents.
The Seahawks are retooling their rushing attack following the departure of Super Bowl MVP Kenneth Walker III, which could make Stephen's talents as a run block vital to the formula.
That could make him especially close with Seattle's first-round pick, Jadarian Price from Notre Dame. Price could shoulder a heavy load of the running game, as true front man Zach Charbonnet continues to rehab an injury sustained last season.
Regardless of how he is used, Stephens is a big gain for the Seahawks in continuing to bolster their physicality up front, which was a core facet of their success last year under head coach Mike Macdonald.
The Seahawks have two more selections remaining, both in the sixth round, barring any additional trades. Seattle has already fulfilled many of its needs heading into the NFL Draft, so these final selections may serve as additional depth pieces for a squad primed to contend once again this season.
