Edge Derick Hall has reportedly put pen to paper on a new contract that will see him remain with the Seahawks for the foreseeable future.
The Seattle Seahawks have continued along the path they set out on this offseason by re-signing one of their own.
After Jaxon Smith-Njigba's big contract, now, the Seahawks have another young player tucked way.
ESPN's Adam Schefter reported that the Seahawks and edge Derick Hall have agreed to a three-year, $42 million deal, which has $21 million guaranteed.
That is a good price for an up--and-coming edge rusher, as the Seahawks clearly saw value in getting Hall's future sorted.
Set to play on the final year of his rookie deal, Hall was coming off a down year in 2025, as he posted just 2.0 sacks, compared to 2024 when he managed 8.0 for the year.
It is worth noting that Hall did start `14 games in 2024 and just three last season, but now that Boye Mafe is no longer with the team, there is a spot open for Derick to get back to being the player he was in 2024.
The deal itself looks to be a good one for the Seahawks, and analyst Mike Salk, who was on Seattle Sports, thinks so too.
“I’m honestly blown away,” Salk said. “… In a vacuum, forgetting about money, I think they wanted Derick Hall over Boye Mafe. So the fact that they get him at almost half the price? I don’t even know what to make of that. Like, how is that even possible?
“John, hats off. Kudos. All the respect, all the props. That is one heck of a deal. Every Seahawks fan should be pretty excited today.”
We know what Hall is capable of, and we saw that in 2024, but last season, he was pushed down the depth chart, and his production suffered.
But now, the Seahawks clearly see value in Hall, so they might aim to put more on his plate so he can step up into the Boye Mafe role in 2026.
Given that the Seahawks have placed a premium on re-signing their own, and looking at internal development this offseason, there is every chance Hall will be able to show why the franchise gave him the deal they did.
There are some who are questioning the Seahawks' moves this offseason, letting multiple defensive players leave, but maybe that was because they are bullish on those behind them.
Could 2026 be Hall's best as a Seahawk? That'll be the hope.
