The Seahawks could bolster JSN's receiver room with Notre Dame's massive Malachi Fields, adding size and physicality to Seattle's aerial attack.

The Seattle Seahawks have one of, if not the most talented wide receiver in the entire league in Jaxon Smith-Njigba. The 24-year-old wideout was able to win Offensive Player of the Year and help the team win their second Super Bowl ever.

But that does not mean that he does not need some help.

And that is exactly what the reigning Super Bowl champions could get him in the upcoming 2026 NFL Draft.

In a recent mock draft by Bleacher Report's Brent Sobleski, he thinks the Seahawks should get JSN some assistance in the receiver room and draft Notre Dame star Malachi Fields with the 32nd overall pick.

"Jaxon Smith-Njigba is the game's best wide receiver. He also needs more help in the Seattle Seahawks offense," Sobleski writes. "Cooper Kupp is a great veteran, but he also turns 33 later this year. Rashid Shaheed is a pending free agent. Notre Dame's Malachi Fields can add a completely different dynamic to the group purely based on his size."

Fields brings an intriguing combination of size and physicality that could immediately expand the Seahawks’ receiving corps. Standing 6-4 and roughly weighing 220 pounds, he fits the mold of a classic outside “X” receiver who can win in contested situations and create mismatches against smaller defensive backs.

Adding a receiver with that kind of frame would give Seattle a different dimension alongside star wideout Jaxon Smith-Njigba and veteran Cooper Kupp. While Smith-Njigba thrives with route precision and Kupp brings veteran reliability, Fields offers size and catch-radius on the perimeter. That blend could make the Seahawks’ passing attack even more difficult for defenses to match up with in the red zone and along the sidelines.

Fields began his college career at University of Virginia, where he developed into one of the ACC’s most productive receivers. During the 2023 and 2024 seasons, he posted back-to-back campaigns with more than 800 receiving yards while earning All-ACC recognition.

After transferring to Notre Dame for his final season, he continued to show his big-play ability, averaging an impressive 17.5 yards per reception while recording 630 receiving yards and five touchdowns in 2025.

That number may seem a bit low at first, but you have to remember that Fields was on the same team as a running back who had over 1,300 rushing yards this past season in Jeremiyah Love.

If this mock scenario became reality, Fields’ arrival in Seattle could give the Seahawks a powerful new target and another potential difference-maker on the outside.
