There are mere days away from the NFL Draft, but moving pieces continue to swirl for the Seahawks ahead of their first-round selection.
There are only a few days until the much-anticipated NFL Draft. Despite the short timeframe, there are still new rumors about who the Seahawks could take with the final first-round pick.
Much has been made about Seattle rebuilding at running back and several defensive positions, but multiple names have consistently swirled in-and-out of the conversation. Now, one more name has entered the mix, thanks to the latest intel from a leading insider.
Adam Schefter shared what he has learned about the potential draft rise of former Arizona Wildcats defensive back Treydan Stukes and how it relates to Seattle sitting at No. 32 overall.
According to Schefter, many teams have been impressed with Stukes knowledge and ability to play multiple positions along the defensive side of the ball. And those positive notions have turned into further opportunities, as Schefter reported that 11 NFL squads have used one of their top 30 visits on Stukes.
These included trips to Pittsburgh, Kansas City and, you guessed it, Seattle. While the Seahawks are starting to be linked to Stukes, they definitely are not the only team making a push for him.
Schefter wrote, "One NFL general manager called Stukes 'one of the best safeties I’ve seen (in my time as a GM),' and added he would draft him ahead of Ohio State safety Caleb Downs. 'This guy makes freaky plays that I haven’t seen other safeties make.' It would not be a shock to see Stukes sneaks into Round 1."
Now, it is very unlikely that Stukes comes off the board before Downs, but to be compared to the standout and projected top-10 pick from Columbus emphasizes just how highly these teams are viewing Stukes.
The main concern for Stukes is an ACL injury he suffered during his time in college, but it does not seem to have reared its head at any of his visits or other showcases.
The good news for Seattle is that with Stukes now projected to go late in the first or early in the second, the Seahawks hold the final pick in the opening round and could use that to jump on him before any other prospective team has the chance if they choose to wait until the following round.
Stukes definitely fits what the Seahawks are after when it comes to this year's draft, especially with the departure of cornerback Riq Woolen, and his versatility allows for Seattle to potentially fill more vacancies.
The biggest question now becomes how high is Stukes rising and will Seattle even have a chance to bring him home with their ultimate first-round selection?
