The Seattle Seahawks were able to claim the second Vince Lombardi Trophy in franchise history with a win over the New England Patriots in Super Bowl LX.
But that does not mean that the team cannot continue to improve through free agency in the offseason.
In a recent article by ESPN's Aaron Schatz, he outlines one signing that he thinks every NFL team is going to make in free agency. For the defending Super Bowl champions, he thinks they should go after San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Jauan Jennings to bolster their receiving corps.
"This signing would achieve a couple of goals for the Seahawks," Schatz writes. "It would give them a receiver to replace Rashid Shaheed if he leaves in free agency... New offensive coordinator Brian Fleury is familiar with Jennings from his time in San Francisco, and adding Jennings would bring the benefit of taking away from an important division rival."
Jennings, a 28-year-old wideout coming off productive seasons with the 49ers, has built a reputation as a dependable target and a tough blocker in the run game — a combination of skills that aligns with Seattle’s offensive philosophy under new coordinator Brian Fleury. Fleury, who coached Jennings in San Francisco, would theoretically know exactly how to use his abilities in Seattle’s scheme.
The Seahawks have one of, if not the best wide receiver in the league in Jaxon Smith-Njigba. He racked up over 1,700 yards and 10 touchdowns on his way to winning NFL Offensive Player of the Year, and had perhaps the greatest season by a Seattle wideout ever.
But one man does not a great receiver corps make.
Signing a guy like Jennings in free agency could take away some of the pain if Shaheed leaves. The 49ers weapon finished 2025 with 643 yards, and even ended the 2024 season with 975 yards in just 10 games started.
Nobody would bat an eye if the Seahawks kept mostly the same roster going into next season. But if they were to bring in a guy like Jennings to strengthen their weapons, it could help the team defend their Lombardi.
