Seahawks' Mike Macdonald Drops Stunning Sam Darnold Injury Update

The Seahawks slumped to a loss against the Bears, and now in the days after, we are learning something rather stunning about Darnold.

The Seattle Seahawks fell to perhaps their worst loss of the season to the Chicago Bears, 34-17 at Lumen Field, and the football gods aren't done kicking them.

With the Seahawks now dropping to 4-4, and a favorable schedule in the next couple of weeks, there is a chance for Mike Macdonald's team to dust themselves off, pick themselves up, and go on a winning run before facing the San Francisco 49ers in Week 12.

But they'll have to do it without Sam Darnold.

Fresh off going 17 of 34 for 188 yards, 2 TDs and an interception against the Bears, Macdonald revealed that Darnold will be out this week against the Arizona Cardinals with a quad injury.

"I did want to make an announcement, Sam injured his quad at the end of the game, so, Sam's going to be out this week and be week to week for Sam," Macdonald said. "He's not going to go on IR. Plan is for Drew [Lock] to start. Jalen [Milroe] will be ready to back up."

Right, that isn't ideal, and Macdonald stated Darnold injured his quad towards the end of the game on Monday night.

So, we were already preparing for Darnold to be out for a week or so, but then Macdonald added more information to the injury report, and revealed Sam had been playing injured for most of the game.

"Sam, this guy, he's tough as nails. I asked him if I could share this, but cracked his rib on the second play of the game," he added. "So, playing the whole game without even making a name of it and playing his tail off and competing, I just think it's worth noting how tough this guy is. He'll be back sooner than later, I'm sure."

Darnold was dealing with a cracked rib for the majority of the game. Yikes.

And it is also worth noting that Sam was sacked three times, and the Bears defense managed six quarterback hits as well, so it wasn't like Darnold was in a clean pocket all night.

He was getting pressured consistently, and when you have a cracked rib, that isn't fun to be running for your life all the time.

But it is now the Drew Lock show, who himself is dealing with an injury to his throwing elbow, so it makes Seattle's quarterback situation rather unstable right now.

And entering a crucial part of the season, no less.
