The redemption arc of Seattle Seahawks quarterback Sam Darnold has been a sight to behold over the last 24 months.
With Darnold riding high with the Minnesota Vikings, before mentally disintegrating in the playoffs, he then landed with Seattle.
Another 14-win regular season was forthcoming, but Darnold's inability to play well in big games was a big question mark.
Well, he's rattled off wins against the San Francisco 49ers and then the Los Angeles Rams as he threw for over 300 yards and 3 TDs to book Seattle's spot in the Super Bowl.
Now, Darnold, a quarterback the entire league had given up on and called a "bust," is one win away from the ultimate redemption story being complete.
But despite his flawless performance in the NFC Championship game, some still aren't convinced that Sam will come through in a big game.
And for NFL.com's Jeffri Chadiha, there's one last thing Darnold has to tick off his list before the comeback is complete.
"It's difficult to imagine Darnold doing more than he just did in his team's NFC championship win over the Rams," Chadiha wrote. "This was the game Darnold needed to have, as the Seahawks won because he was on their side and there wasn't a soul-crushing mistake to be found anywhere.
"Now Darnold leads the Seahawks into Super Bowl LX against a New England team that has been winning largely because of its defense. The only thing left to prove is whether he can do it one more time."
Against one of the best defenses in football, Darnold, with the entire world watching, will need to play sound, mistake-free football for the Seahawks to win.
He has the stellar defense like Drake Maye, but Darnold also possesses a star running back in Kenneth Walker and an All-Pro receiver in Jaxon Smith-Njigba.
Keep this Ferrari on the road and don't crash it into a ditch in Santa Clara, Sam.
You do that, and a Super Bowl win, and the ultimate comeback story will be complete.
After years and years of skeptics pushing Darnold down due to his failures, regardless of the good he put on film, in Santa Clara, against the Patriots, Sam is four quarters of football away from shutting up those doubters once and for all.
