The older Bosa could land with a Super Bowl contender. Seattle's deep rotation offers the ideal situation for his pass-rush prowess.
The Seattle Seahawks obviously have already proven they can win at the highest level. Now the question becomes how they sustain it—and one recent projection points to a familiar formula: adding proven pass-rush talent.
That’s where superstar free agent Joey Bosa enters the picture.
In a recent article by PFF's Bradley Locker, he picks what he thinks is the ideal landing spot for some of the league's best free agents that have yet to sign to a team. For the veteran edge rusher, he thinks he could sign with the reigning Super Bowl champions.
"Even though Bosa is less effective against the run, his terrific pass-rush acumen would allow the league’s deepest edge-rushing group to remain dangerous in 2026," Locker writes. "At age 30, Bosa seems inclined to play for a contender — and Seattle’s rotation is a perfect situation."
Seattle saw key changes to its pass-rush rotation this offseason. Boye Mafe departed to the Bengals in free agency, and that leaves a clear opening for a player who can still impact games at a high level—especially in obvious passing situations.
Bosa fits that description.
He has built a résumé that includes multiple Pro Bowl selections and a Defensive Rookie of the Year award, along with 70-plus career sacks. More importantly, recent performance suggests he still has plenty left to offer.
He has dealt with some injuries, but when he has been on the field, he has still been very solid. Bosa racked up five sacks, nine tackles for loss, and even forced a league-leading five fumbles this past season.
For Seattle, the appeal goes beyond raw production.
This is a team that doesn’t necessarily need Bosa to carry the defensive line. Instead, he would slot into a rotation that could maximize his strengths—pinning his ears back on passing downs and creating problems for opposing quarterbacks.
There’s also a mutual benefit in terms of timeline. Bosa, at this stage of his career, is likely prioritizing a contender. Seattle, coming off a title and still firmly in the mix, offers exactly that environment.
If Seattle is serious about extending its window, adding a player like Bosa could be the kind of calculated move that keeps the defense dangerous.
