Seattle bolsters its championship defense by gambling on the ball-hawking veteran. Reuniting with former coaches, the ex-interception leader seeks a career resurgence alongside star corner Devon Witherspoon.

Well ... that conversation didn't have to wait very long.

Less than 24 hours after the Seattle Seahawks brought Trevon Diggs in for a workout, they're keeping him around.

Seattle is signing the former Dallas Cowboys All-Pro cornerback, Adam Schefter reported Wednesday.

And suddenly, all that secondary "shopping" we've talked about has produced another addition.

At the time of Diggs' workout, there was no guarantee anything would come from it.

In fact, we ended our story yesterday by pointing out that Diggs actually signing with Seattle would be a conversation for another day.

Turns out ... Wednesday is that day.

Diggs gives the reigning Super Bowl champions another interesting option in a secondary already headlined by Devon Witherspoon, Nick Emmanwori and Julian Love.

The 27-year-old led the NFL with 11 interceptions in 2021, earning first-team All-Pro honors and the first of consecutive Pro Bowl selections with Dallas.

But injuries have played a major role since.

Diggs suffered a torn ACL after two games in 2023 and appeared in 11 games the following season. He then played eight games for Dallas in 2025 before the Cowboys waived him in December.

Green Bay claimed Diggs off waivers, and he appeared in the Packers' regular-season finale and Wild Card loss to Chicago before being released in January.

Diggs didn't record an interception or pass breakup during the 2025 regular season.

Now Seattle is giving him an opportunity to show there's still something left to unlock.

And there's some familiarity waiting for him.

Seahawks defensive coordinator Aden Durde coached Diggs in Dallas, while defensive backs coach Karl Scott worked with him at Alabama.

There's also a bit of irony to Seattle's recent secondary additions.

Days after making Witherspoon the highest-paid cornerback in NFL history, the Seahawks have turned around and agreed to add two former Alabama defensive backs.

Seattle still intends to sign former Detroit Lions first-round pick Terrion Arnold, another Crimson Tide product, though completing the move "will take a while."

Arnold will be placed on the NFL's Commissioner's Exempt List once he signs, preventing him from practicing or playing while on the list.

Diggs spent four seasons at Alabama from 2016-19. Arnold arrived in Tuscaloosa in 2021 and remained through 2023.

Assuming Arnold's pending signing becomes official, they'll now find themselves in the same NFL cornerback room.

There's nothing publicly connecting Seattle's Diggs signing directly to Arnold's situation — or the new Witherspoon contract.

There doesn't need to be.

The Seahawks were already exploring ways to strengthen their secondary ... now they've turned one of those explorations into an actual addition.

The shopping isn't hypothetical anymore. Trevon Diggs is a Seahawk.
