The Seahawks have several needs, and the franchise could look to do something bold.
The Seattle Seahawks' run game has been a major topic of discussion this offseason as Mike Macdonald's team has undergone significant changes.
With Klint Kubiak now in Las Vegas as the head coach, and a host of free agents leaving, headlined by Super Bowl MVP Kenneth Walker, the Seahawks' roster looks a little different.
And the biggest change appears to be in the running back room.
With no Walker, new coordinator Brian Fleury will have a different-looking room in 2026, particularly to start the year.
Zach Charbonnet isn't expected to be ready to begin the season due to his ACL injury, which leaves the newly signed Emanuel Wilson, George Holani, and Kenny McIntosh as the options.
Will the Seahawks be fine with that group of backs to begin their Super Bowl defense?
I'm not sure. So, what if Seattle made a big move?
Fox Sports' Ralph Vacchiano has proposed that, on draft night, the Seahawks send a 2026 third-round pick and a 2027 fifth-round pick to the New York Jets in exchange for running back Breece Hall.
"The Jets just placed the franchise tag on Hall and they want to sign him long term, though it’s not clear if Hall actually wants to stay in New York," Vacchiano wrote. "The Seahawks, meanwhile, need a replacement for Kenneth Walker, whom they lost in free agency. The cost would be at least a third-round pick, which was reportedly what the Jets were asking for at the deadline last year.
"A running back like Hall is an unnecessary luxury for a team like the Jets headed for the bottom of the standings, but he could instantly make the Seahawks an even bigger threat to repeat as Super Bowl champs."
Considering the Seahawks have just four draft selections, trading one away to acquire Hall might leave general manager John Schneider a little short on filling other holes.
Plus, Macdonald stated that some outside of the building are sleeping on his running back room. However there is no denying it needs a leader. Could that be Hall? Possibly. He is coming off his best yards total in a season (1,065), so he is in form.
But whether the Jets want to lose him is another thing entirely.
As for Seattle, Hall could be a great Walker replacement, but what sort of money would he want? Likely nothing under $10 million APY. Could the Seahawks stomach that?
If they want to have a running back room capable of helping lead the charge to another Super Bowl, they just might.
