Seahawks offensive lineman Anthony Bradford has a big offseason coming up as part of Brian Fleury's offense.
The NFL Draft is great for the neutrals, but for veterans, it means young players are coming to take their jobs, and the Seattle Seahawks are making some veterans nervous.
With a good draft haul that saw the franchise address several needs at running back, safety, and guard, Seattle now has a battle for positions in training camp.
For most NFL teams, that is what makes rosters so good: the constant competition for places, so every player is at their best more often than not.
But the other side of that is a player can lose their job.
A young rookie coming in and flashing in training camp sometimes means the coaching staff will go with them over the veteran. That is just a part of football.
And for Seahawks right guard Anthony Bradford, he's now looking nervously over his shoulder at Iowa's Beau Stephens.
Seen by some scouts as a player who could push Bradford for the starting role, all eyes will be on the right guard battle as the offseason workouts begin.
And for ESPN's Ben Solak, one veteran who is on the positional hotseat is Bradford.
“The Seahawks got by with Bradford last season and did not invest early or aggressively in the position during the draft,” Solak wrote. “But eventually they did make a move, with Iowa guard Beau Stephens in the fifth round.
"That draft capital is insufficient for Stephens to immediately see first-team reps during training camp, so Bradford's job is likely safe for Week 1. But if he continues to be the weak link in an otherwise solid O-line, the Seahawks will look into playing the rookie."
With the Seahawks already speaking glowingly of Stephens, the rookie has hit the ground running at the facility and is training at right guard.
Now, this is all a projection, and Bradford might turn a corner this offseason, but his performances last season left a lot to be desired, which is why some think Stephens could usurp him.
Of course, there is also a chance that Stephens isn't up to the task of starting out of the gate, and Bradford, with his veteran experience, will be giving the first shot as the regular season begins.
But you better believe that the same mistakes that plagued Bradford last season can't happen again.
Because in Stephens, the Seahawks, according to many, have a more than adequate replacement waiting in the wings.
