The Seahawks have a need for a No.2 receiver, but also have question marks over their running back room, so why not get a player who can do both?
The Seattle Seahawks, like most NFL teams, will enter training camp with a handful of questions to answer.
We know what the defense is under Mike Macdonald, and that doesn't appear to be changing in 2026, but the offense? Yeah, there's lots of change.
Klint Kubiak is out as offensive coordinator, taking the Las Vegas Raiders head coaching role, and Kenneth Walker is now with the Kansas City Chiefs.
Brian Fleury, who was with the San Francisco 49ers as a tight ends coach, now takes over the offense, and he has some moving and shaking to do at training camp.
Questions remain over the running back room, with Zach Charbonnet out for the first half of the year and rookie Jadarian Price looking set to lead the room, with a bunch of career backups behind him.
Then at receiver, it's the Jaxon Smith-Njigba show, and Seattle needs a dependable weapon alongside him.
Cooper Kupp, Rashid Shaheed, Jake Bobo, and Tory Horton are the options right now, but is that enough to push the Seahawks on a deep playoff run? That is up for debate.
But what if the Seahawks looked to do something a little unorthodox and get a player who can help both in the run and passing game?
Say, like Deebo Samuel?
Speaking on his YouTube page, Samuel made it clear he's ready to play football.
“Going on Year 8, and still feel like I got a lot, at least like three, four good years left,” he said. "Some people ask like, 'Are you ready to hang it up?' And I'm like, nah, everything's got timing.
"So I promise you when the time come, it's going to come. I'm overly prepared, overly ready for the moment, and whenever that right opportunity show up, we here first, man, and ready to rock out.”
So why not Seattle?
Having already had close working with Fleury in San Francisco, Deebo could be a nice fit, and yes, a 49er coming to the Seahawks is a little odd, but Fleury did it.
Plus, Samuel was still productive for the Washington Commanders last season (727 yards, 5 TDs), and he could offer something in both the run and pass game for the Seahawks.
A cheap option, as he is still a free agent for a reason, so the Seahawks, if they want a player who still has lots to prove, it might not be a bad idea to give Deebo a call.
