Super Bowl Prediction Has Seahawks Star Poised For MVP Honors cover image

The Seahawks have plenty of weapons that could win Super Bowl MVP, but one might a little outside the box.

The Seattle Seahawks are one win away from NFL immortality in Mike Macdonald's second season as head coach.

The New England Patriots are the last team Seattle has to overcome, and in true NFL fashion, maybe it has saved the best for last.

Both defenses are elite, suffocating opposing offenses while taking quarterbacks' souls for fun.

While both offenses can score points in a hurry. Most would give the Seahawks the advantage in that area, but it is close.

Expected to be a defensive battle, as both units rarely give up anything easy, the offenses could struggle, but that is where you need a difference-maker.

A key play here or there could be what wins or loses the game for the Seahawks or Patriots, but luckily for Seattle offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak, he has, perhaps, the best offensive weapon on his side -- Jaxon Smith-Njigba.

An All-Pro after 1,793 yards and 10 TDs, not to mention his 10 reception, 153-yard, 1 TD game in the NFC Championship win over the Los Angeles Rams, JSN is on fire.

And for CBS Sports' Zachary Pereles, in his bold predictions, he has Jaxon claiming MVP honors.

"In a breakout year, Smith-Njigba seems primed to star on the biggest stage," Pereles wrote. "A meticulous route runner who's dangerous after the catch, too, Smith-Njigba will have a big game -- think something similar to his 10-catch, 153-yard, one-touchdown NFC Championship Game -- en route to MVP honors."

Is that out of the realm of possibility? Absolutely not.

We saw how devastating Smith-Njigba can be against the Rams, and that was in the biggest game of the year.

Of course, the Patriots have star corner Christian Gonzalez, who we think could travel with Jaxon, making life tough to get MVP honors.

Plus, looking back through the history books, receivers winning Super Bowl MVP isn't the norm.

Just four receivers in the last 20 years have won Super Bowl MVP (Hines Ward, Santonio Holmes, Julian Edelman, and Cooper Kupp).

For Smith-Njigba to claim Super Bowl MVP, he would need to replicate his efforts from the NFC Championship game, which is a tall order against New England's defense.

But it is a bold prediction for a reason, and if there is one player other than a quarterback capable of claiming MVP honors in Santa Clara, it's JSN.
