Quarterback Aaron Rodgers was injured for the second time in three games on Sunday. Still, he wasn't out long, and it ultimately didn't matter as the Steelers lost 26-7 to the Buffalo Bills at Acrisure Stadium in Pittsburgh.
Rodgers left the game early in the third quarter after being sacked by Joey Bosa. The hit, which came on the first play of the second half, resulted in Christian Benford returning a fumble 17 yards for a touchdown to put the Bills ahead 10-7.
Rodgers had a bloody nose and missed the Steelers' next series while being attended in the blue medical tent. Mason Rudolph replaced Rodgers and threw an interception on his second pass. The pick by Benford led to a 1-yard touchdown pass from Josh Allen to Keon Coleman that pushed the Bills' lead to 16-7.
Rodgers then returned with a bandaged nose. He was also shaking his right wrist as he entered the medical tent, but apparently did not sustain an additional injury.
Rodgers broke his left wrist on Nov. 16 in a win against the Cincinnati Bengals. The 41-year-old missed last week's loss to the Chicago Bears while Rudolph started.
The loss was the Steelers' fifth in seven games, dropping their record to 6-6 and tying them with the Baltimore Ravens for first place in the AFC North. The teams meet next Sunday in Baltimore. The Ravens hold the division tiebreaker because of a better record in the AFC North.
Rodgers completed just 10 of 21 passes for 117 yards with no touchdowns or interceptions. His passer rating was 65.0, his third-lowest mark of the season.
The Bills (8-4) rushed for 249 yards and held a whopping 41:59-18:01 advantage in time of possession. James Cook III had 144 yards on 32 carries during a day when a 16-mph wind and 34-degree gametime temperature made passing difficult. Ray Davis added 62 yards on nine carries.
Facing the worst pass defense in the league, Allen threw for just 123 yards on 15-of-23 passing. Last year's NFL rushed for 38 yards on eight carries and an 8-yard TD that made it 23-7 with 14:08 left.
The Steelers had just 166 total yards. Jaylen Warren rushed for 35 yards and the Steelers' lone touchdown on 10 carries.
