Aaron Rodgers was the big story leading into Sunday night's game. However, the Pittsburgh Steelers' expensive but leaky defense wound up being a bigger story.

The Steelers blew a 16-7 halftime lead, giving up 21 fourth-quarter points as the Green Bay Packers rallied for a 35-25 victory at Acrisure Stadium. The Steelers (4-3) lost their second straight game but remain in first place in the AFC North, ½ game ahead of the Cincinnati Bengals (4-4).

Rodgers, the Steelers' 41-year-old quarterback, had a decent effort in his first career game against the Packers, completing 24 of 36 passes for 219 yards and two touchdowns. Rodgers spent the first 18 years of his 21-year career with the Packers, winning four NFL MVP awards and one Super Bowl.

However, Rodgers couldn't overcome the Steelers' defensive woes. The Packers had 454 total yards with Jordan Love going 29-of-37 passing for 360 yards and three touchdowns, and tight end Tucker Kraft making seven receptions for 143 yards and two scores. The Steelers had no sacks or takeaways.

The Steelers entered the season with the NFL's highest-paid defense. However, the Steelers ranked 31st among the league's 32 teams in pass defense going into Sunday night and 28th in total defense. They have given up at least 31 points four times in seven games this season.

The woes continued late in Sunday night's game.

The Steelers took a 19-14 lead into the fourth quarter, but the NFL North-leading Packers (5-1-1) scored on the first play of the final period as Josh Jacobs had a 3-yard touchdown run. Love followed by throwing a two-point conversion pass to Romeo Doubs.

Nearly four minutes later, Love's 24-yard TD pass to Kraft pushed the Packers' lead to 29-19. Two field goals by Brandon McManus made it 35-19.

The Steelers scored with 2:07 left when Roman Wilson caught a 21-yard touchdown pass, his first in the NFL, from Rodgers. However, the Steelers failed to convert a two-point conversion, and the Packers ran out the clock with a 10-point lead.

Wilson had the best game of his two-year career with four receptions for 74 yards. Jaylen Warren had 62 yards on 13 carries.

Rodgers also threw a 2-yard TD pass to DK Metcalf in the second quarter. However, the Steelers had problems finishing drives, settling for four Chris Boswell field goals of 56, 50, 48, and 56 yards.

The Steelers host the Indianapolis Colts (7-1), who have the best record in the league, next Sunday.
