It will be the first regular-season NFL game played in Ireland. The Steelers and Vikings both enter the matchup with 2-1 records at Croke Park in Dublin.
Ramsey has been playing safety because of injuries in the Steelers' secondary. However, Ramsey will be at cornerback this week as safety DeShon Elliott returns.
As the Steelers' top corner, Ramsey will match up with wide receiver Justin Jefferson, who is a four-time All-Pro. Jefferson has 12 receptions for 200 yards and one touchdown this season, but has had 1,000-yard seasons in each of his first five years in the NFL.
Ramsey, in his first season with the Steelers, has also had an accomplished career. He has been selected to seven Pro Bowls in 10 seasons and is a three-time All-Pro.
Acquired from the Miami Dolphins in a trade on June 30, Ramsey has one interception in his first three games with the Steelers. Ramsey also has four passes defended, 10 tackles, and one quarterback hit.
Pro Football Focus gives Ramsey a 73.7 grade, which ranks 18th among NFL cornerbacks.
"We got a lot of confidence in Jalen, not only his playmaking ability and his competes, but his versatility," Tomlin told reporters on Friday in Dublin. "We have enough schematic versatility that he does as a player, that we can match him up in a variety of circumstances, that we can position him to defend (tight end T.J. Hockenson). We can position him to defend (Jefferson), and I'm sure you will see all of the above.
"Because it not only requires good players to minimize good players, but it requires good schematics. And he's certainly a component of that for us defensively."
The Steelers will also have to account for wide receiver Jordan Addison, who returns to the Vikings after serving a three-game suspension from the NFL to start the season. He had 133 receptions for 1,786 yards and 19 touchdown catches combined in his first two seasons.
