Aaron Rodgers spoke about the Pittsburgh Steelers carrying four QBs.
Pittsburgh Steelers Aaron Rodgers has been in the NFL since 2005.
However, he's experiencing something new this year, his 22nd and last season in the NFL.
The Steelers are carrying four QBs: Rodgers, Mason Rudolph, Drew Allar and Will Howard. This is the first time in his legendary NFL career that Rodgers has been part of a four-man QB room.
"I was thinking it was a possibility, but I don't think I've been on a roster with four quarterbacks," Rodgers said, via ESPN. "Obviously when you do that, you're taking away a spot from another place in the team. But at the same time, if the best 53 are going to make it -- and not saying they did -- I think those four are part of the best 53."
Rodgers didn't play in the preseason. He told reporters he's happy for Rudolph, Allar and Howard.
"I'm happy for all those guys," Rodgers said. "Obviously looking to the future, those other three guys are going to have a chance when I'm done. And with the growth you saw with Will and obviously with Drew being drafted so high, but also playing well in camp, I'm not surprised at all and I'm excited about those guys' future."
Rodgers is one of the greatest QBs in NFL history. He enters this season with 66,274 passing yards and 527 passing touchdowns in the regular season and 6,040 passing yards and 45 passing touchdowns in the playoffs.
In 2025, Rodgers put up 3,322 passing yards, 24 passing touchdowns and seven interceptions last season. The future Hall of Famer completed 65.7% of his passes.
The Steelers won the AFC North last season but lost to the Houston Texans at home in the wild-card round of the 2026 playoffs. A four-time MVP, Rodgers hasn't won a playoff game since the 2020 season, while the Steelers haven't won a postseason game since the 2016 season.
Mike McCarthy and Rodgers won Super Bowl XLV against the Steelers as members of the Green Bay Packers. Rodgers called it a "full-circle" moment to play for McCarthy again.
"Honestly, sitting in the first 8 o'clock meeting on Monday took me back to being a 22-year-old kid sitting in Green Bay," Rodgers said. "Listening to Mike's first meeting in 2006. It's fun. I mean, it's like 'pinch me' moments. It's been happening the last few days, getting to sit next to [offensive line coach] James Campen in the meetings is fun. [Assistant offensive line coach] Jahri Evans was a teammate of mine. He's on his staff now as a Hall of Famer -- should be a Hall of Famer. That's pretty cool too. A lot of connections."
The Steelers open the 2026 season against the Atlanta Falcons.
