If Aaron Rodgers retires, the Pittsburgh Steelers should do this trade.

A blockbuster NFL trade proposal sending the Pittsburgh Steelers a new QB has been created.

Gary Davenport of Bleacher Report created the following trade proposal:

Pittsburgh Steelers Get: QB Kyler Murray, 2027 Round 5 Pick

Arizona Cardinals Get: 2026 Round 5 Pick, 2027 Round 6 Pick

Aaron Rodgers becomes an unrestricted free agent this offseason. If he chooses to retire from the NFL, the Steelers will need a new QB for head coach Mike McCarthy.

Murray has 20,460 passing yards, 121 passing touchdowns, 3,193 rushing yards and 32 rushing touchdowns in the NFL. He turns 29 in August.

A talented runner and passer, Murray played in five games in 2025. He had 962 passing yards and six passing touchdowns. The Cardinals will trade or cut the two-time Pro Bowler this offseason.

The Steelers lost to the Houston Texans in the wild-card round of the 2026 playoffs. Mike Tomlin stepped down as head coach and was replaced by McCarthy, who won a Super Bowl with Rodgers on the Green Bay Packers.

A future Hall of Famer, Rodgers finished with 3,322 passing yards, 24 passing touchdowns and seven interceptions this season. He completed 65.7% of his passes.

Murray is a dual-threat QB, while Rodgers isn't. The Steelers' offense would be more dynamic with Murray instead of Rodgers running show. It will be fascinating to see if Pittsburgh pursues a trade for Murray this offseason.

Murray has two years left on his massive five-year, $230 million contract. If the Steelers traded for Murray, they would have the former No. 1 overall pick throwing to D.K. Metcalf.
