Eagles and Steelers Should Make Trade After Tough Jalen Hurts News

Hurts will be out now and the Steelers could help.

It still doesn't really feel like we have a great understanding of what the Pittsburgh Steelers are as an organization at the moment.

We all know that the Steelers are going to compete week in and week out, but for a team that's looking to win a Super Bowl, and a fan base that's dying for more success than it has found over much of the past decade, it doesn't feel safe to say that Pittsburgh is in a position to win it all.

Much of that could be due to quarterback play, as an aging Aaron Rodgers at this stage of his career likely isn't a Super Bowl-winning quarterback.

Other issues are at play, too, including below-average offensive help outside a few guys and an older defense.

For what that means for the Steelers' deadline plans, it's tough to get a real feel. Pittsburgh is definitely in a position to make a couple of moves, whether it wants to be buyers or sellers. It feels like the Steelers are going to enter the deadline looking to buy and sell some.

Bleacher Report predicted that, noting that Mason Rudolph could be an option for teams like the Washington Commanders and Atlanta Falcons.

“Pittsburgh Steelers backup Mason Rudolph, on the other hand, should be available to teams that need backup help. The Steelers kept four quarterbacks on their 53-man roster, with Rudolph, Will Howard, and rookie Drew Allar sitting behind Aaron Rodgers. It's highly unlikely that Pittsburgh's plan was to keep all four quarterbacks through the trade deadline.

“In fact, Jason La Canfora of Casino.org reported at the start of the season that the Steelers probably would have dealt Rudolph if there was a stronger quarterback market. Rudolph won't be valued as a starter the way Jones might be. However, he has 20 career starts (including playoffs) on his resume and should appeal to teams with questionable QB depth. Potential Suitors: Atlanta Falcons, Washington Commanders,” Kristopher Knox of BR wrote.

It's almost crazy that Rudolph has stuck with the organization for as long as he has.

He's proven throughout much of his career that he can be a decent backup when called upon, but he's probably not much more than that. Teams like the Falcons and Commanders could use that, so it's interesting to think about what the Steelers could get in a potential trade package.
