The Pittsburgh Steelers acquired Jalen Ramsey from the Miami Dolphins before the 2025 season. Ramsey played in all 17 games last season. He finished with one interception, eight passes defended, three sacks, 53 solo tackles, four tackles for loss and four QB hits. The one-time Super Bowl champion made his eighth Pro Bowl.
Some people around the NFL speculated that the Steelers could look to trade Ramsey this offseason. However, according to Brooke Pryor of ESPN, Pittsburgh intends to keep the talented defender.
"A league source indicated the Steelers aren't planning to move on from Jalen Ramsey, who offers valuable upside as a nickel, but there are still plenty of holes to fill," Pryor wrote.
Ramsey turns 32 in October. He's been in the NFL since 2016. The Florida State product has played for the Jacksonville Jaguars, Los Angeles Rams, Dolphins and Steelers. He has 25 interceptions.
Ramsey signed a four-year, $84.7 million restructured contract with the Steelers after the Dolphins traded him. All signs point toward Ramsey leading Pittsburgh's secondary in 2026.
The Steelers lost to the Houston Texans in the wild-card round of the 2026 playoffs. Legendary head coach Mike Tomlin stepped down from his post and former Green Bay Packers and Dallas Cowboys coach Mike McCarthy was hired.
McCarthy has spoken to QB Aaron Rodgers about playing next season. Rodgers is an unrestricted free agent. The future Hall of Famer finished with 3,322 passing yards, 24 passing touchdowns and seven interceptions in 2025. He completed 65.7% of his passes.
If Rodgers retires, the Steelers will need a new QB.
