Mike Tomlin Named Candidate to Take Over Eagles Job Amid Nick Sirianni Rumors

Tomlin would be a perfect coach in Philadelphia.

When head coach Mike Tomlin stepped away from the NFL for however long, it raised questions about what his future might look like in this league.

Tomlin seems to be enjoying himself as an analyst, and if there is one easy thing to say, it's that he loves football, so it wouldn't be surprising to see him back on the sidelines sometime in the near future.

Tomlin will have tough decisions to make about what he wants to do, but if he decides to coach again, he shouldn't have much trouble finding a job.

One could strongly argue that he's in as good a position as anyone in the football space to get another head coaching job if he decides to, with one analyst recently suggesting he should take the Philadelphia Eagles job.

"It takes a bad coach to be able do what he did at the end of the game… They weren't supposed to have to make a tackle on that play. People say, 'Oh man, everybody's got a job to do.' Yes, but the head coach's job is to put those guys in a situation where they can be successful, and he didn't do that…

"Man, what would Mike Tomlin look like in Philadelphia? What would Mike Tomlin have done in that situation?" I listened to him on TV, and I'm pretty certain that he would not have had the Eagles in that situation,” Cris Carter said, H/T Heavy.

The former Pittsburgh Steelers head coach ending up with the Eagles would be a worst-case scenario for many in Pittsburgh, as the last thing anybody would want to see is him coaching one of the NFL’s biggest rivals.

At the same time, based on fit and what the Eagles need, Tomlin would likely be a perfect option.

He's already proven throughout his career that he can win at a high level, and with Nick Sirianni's name somewhat on the hot seat in Philadelphia, there might be no better option than the all-time great head coach.

Tomlin would be taking over a high-level team, too, something that should interest him.
