This is huge news.
The NFL announced on Wednesday that Pittsburgh Steelers RB Jaylen Warren is the AFC Offensive Player of the Week for Week 5.
Against the Indianapolis Colts, Warren had 101 rushing yards, 87 receiving yards, one rushing touchdown and one receiving touchdown.
Warren accomplished a feat that hasn't happened in 40 years in the Steelers' win over the Colts. He became the first NFL player in 40 years to have a touchdown catch of 80 or more yards and a touchdown run of 50 or more yards in the same game.
Warren is the first Steelers player with a touchdown run of at least 50 yards and a touchdown reception of at least 80 yards in the same game. Per NFL Research, he joined Franco Harris as the only Pittsburgh players in the Super Bowl era with 80 rushing yards and a rushing touchdown and 80 receiving yards and a receiving touchdown in the same game.
Against the Colts, Warren had 15 carries for 101 yards, including a 50-yard touchdown run. He added six receptions for 87 yards, which included an 80-yard catch-and-run for a touchdown, for a total of 188 yards from scrimmage.
The Steelers improved to 3-2 after beating the Colts. Warren has 410 rushing yards, one rushing touchdown, 230 receiving yards and one receiving touchdown this season. He has carried the ball 70 times and caught 19 passes.
"He's just such a slippery player," Steelers quarterback Aaron Rodgers said about Warren. "First guy rarely brings him down. He's good inside the tackles. He's good outside of the tackles. Always moving forward. Always spinning, slipping out of plays, finishing runs. He's one of the most liked players on the team. Guys want to block for him on the offensive line and the tight ends and the receivers. Just really enjoy his energy from start to finish every day of the week and enjoy what he does for us."
The Steelers are averaging 22.2 points per game this season. That's good for 18th in the NFL.
Warren and Co. face the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Week 6 on the road. The Steelers haven't won two games in a row yet this season.
A future Hall of Famer, Rodgers has 1,234 passing yards, 10 passing touchdowns and four interceptions this season. He's completing 59.8% of his passes. The four-time MVP is retiring from the NFL after this season.
Since turning 40, Rodgers has thrown three touchdown passes in eight games, passing Brett Favre for third most in NFL history. Rodgers now trails only Tom Brady (36) and Drew Brees (11) in such games.
Rodgers enters Week 6 with 67,508 career passing yards and 537 career passing touchdowns with the Green Bay Packers, New York Jets and Steelers.
