This would be a wild trade.

An offseason trade idea where the Steelers acquire a Pro Bowler to replace future Hall of Famer Aaron Rodgers has been created.

Kristopher Knox of Bleacher Report created the following trade idea between the Steelers and Cardinals:

Steelers Receive: QB Kyler Murray

Cardinals Receive: 2026 3rd-Round Pick, 2027 1st-Round Pick, RB Kaleb Johnson

Rodgers only signed a one-year deal with the Steelers. He could retire after this season since he turns 42 in December.

If Rodgers retires from the NFL, the Steelers will need a new quarterback and Knox thinks Murray could shine in Pittsburgh playing alongside star WR D.K. Metcalf and under head coach Mike Tomlin.

ESPN and NFL Network are reporting that Murray and the Cardinals could part ways this offseason.

"The Pittsburgh Steelers could become interested in Murray if Aaron Rodgers decides not to sign up for another season at age 42," Knox wrote. "Assuming Mike Tomlin is still the head coach in 2026, the Steelers will be looking to extend their run of relevance, and they'll need a quarterback if Rodgers has decided to call it a career.

"Murray would probably be more of a game manager in Pittsburgh, which could help with his development. His dual-threat ability would also work in Arthur Smith's offense—the Steelers were interested in bringing back Justin Fields before they pivoted to Rodgers, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.

"Murray's contract would give the Steelers two seasons to evaluate him before making any long-term decisions."

Murray has played in only five games this season. He may not play again after being placed on IR because of a foot injury.

The 28-year-old Murray has thrown for 962 yards, six touchdowns and three interceptions and rushed for 173 yards and one touchdown for Arizona this season.

Murray has 20,460 passing yards, 121 passing touchdowns, 3,193 rushing yards and 32 rushing touchdowns in the NFL.

If the Cardinals and Murray end up parting ways this offseason, it will be fascinating to see if the Steelers attempt to acquire the Texas native.

Russell Wilson played well in Pittsburgh and he's got similar traits to Murray, so Murray could restart his career with the Steelers under Arthur Smith.
