The Pittsburgh Steelers and future Hall of Fame quarterback Aaron Rodgers saw their season come to an end on Monday night in the Wild Card round of the playoffs against the Houston Texans.
All night long, the Steelers failed to move the football offensively. Going up against the Texans' defense has been difficult for teams throughout the entire season. Unfortunately, Pittsburgh fell victim to that as well.
Rodgers entered the game with the possibility that it could be his last. No one knows the answer to the question of whether or not he will return in 2026, but it is on the table that fans have seen the last of a legend.
With just 13:07 left in the game, the Steelers only trailed 10-6. Rodgers and company had a chance to pull off a comeback win, but things unraveled quickly.
When all was said and done, Pittsburgh lost in blowout fashion by a final score of 30-6.
Late in the game, Rodgers threw a pick-six to Calen Bullock. After that play happened, fellow NFL legend Peyton Manning issued a somber message about the 42-year-old quarterback.
"Is that the last pass of Aaron Rodgers career?" Manning questioned.
Many fans were asking the same question. If Rodgers chooses to ride off into the sunset of retirement, he would finish his career throwing an interception that was returned for a touchdown.
There have been hints throughout the season that Rodgers could consider returning in 2026. Should he choose to come back for another run, the Steelers would almost certainly welcome him back. However, Rodgers will take his time entering the offseason to make a decision.
Only time will tell if Rodgers has played his last NFL down. If that does end up being the case, he will go down as one of the best of all-time and his name will be talked about for many years to come.
On the other hand, if he chooses to return, Rodgers will have a chip on his shoulder. He has had that chip throughout his entire NFL career and has continually risen up to the challenge to prove his doubters wrong.
Expect the NFL rumor mill to be hopping with Rodgers rumors this offseason. For now, the Steelers' season is over and the Rodgers watch begins.
