Could the Pittsburgh Steelers add a four-time Pro Bowler this offseason?

If Aaron Rodgers doesn't return to the Pittsburgh Steelers this offseason, a four-time Pro Bowler could replace him.

Brad Gagnon of Bleacher Report believes the Steelers could consider signing Kirk Cousins if Rodgers retires or signs with another team.

The Atlanta Falcons are set to release Cousins once the new league year begins in March.

Cousins started eight games for the Falcons in 2025. He went 5-3 and put up 1,721 passing yards, 10 passing touchdowns and five interceptions while completing 61.7% of his passes.

Cousins turns 38 in August. Once he gets released by the Falcons, the Michigan State product can sign with any team of his choice.

Cousins has played for Washington, Minnesota and Atlanta. He has 44,700 passing yards, 298 passing touchdowns and 131 interceptions in the NFL. He's never been to the Super Bowl.

The Steelers lost to the Houston Texans in the wild-card round of the 2026 playoffs. Mike Tomlin stepped down as head coach and former Green Bay Packers and Dallas Cowboys head coach Mike McCarthy was hired as Pittsburgh's new man in charge.

While Rodgers has spoken with McCarthy about playing next season, it is unknown whether the NFL legend will retire or continue playing. A future Hall of Famer, Rodgers finished with 3,322 passing yards, 24 passing touchdowns and seven interceptions in 2025. He completed 65.7% of his passes.

McCarthy coached Rodgers on the Packers. The two won Super Bowl XLV against the Steelers.

The Steelers want Rodgers to return, but the four-time MVP is 42 years old. He may be ready to retire, so Pittsburgh has to have contingency plans in place.

"We all agree that we're looking for that next franchise guy," Steelers GM Omar Khan said at the NFL Combine. "We're not there yet, and we may have the guy in the roster, we don't know. We're excited to work with Will, but we know that it has to be addressed, and we're all looking for the same thing. We're just not there yet."

It will be fascinatingto see who is starting at QB for the Steelers in 2026.
