Pittsburgh Steelers Considered Landing Spot for 4-Time Pro Bowler cover image

You can never have enough talent in the NFL.

The Pittsburgh Steelers are considered a landing spot for a controversial four-time Pro Bowler.

CBS Sports believes the Steelers should consider signing veteran WR Stefon Diggs, who the New England Patriots have released.

"The Steelers are basically in any conversation involving receivers after they unsuccessfully tried to land a proven veteran at the position last season," CBS Sports wrote. "In Pittsburgh, Diggs would take some attention off DK Metcalf, who was consistently double-teamed during his first season with the Steelers. Diggs may be hesitant to go to Pittsburgh, however, given the team's uncertainty at quarterback. Aaron Rodgers remains a possibility, but Rodgers said Tuesday that he hasn't made a decision about what he will do in 2026."

Diggs had 85 catches for 1,013 yards and four touchdowns last season. He helped the Patriots reach the Super Bowl, where New England lost to the Seattle Seahawks.

Diggs has played for the Minnesota Vikings, Buffalo Bills, Houston Texans and Patriots. He has 942 catches for 11,504 yards and 74 touchdowns in the NFL.

Diggs is facing felony strangulation and other criminal charges stemming from an alleged dispute with his personal chef. The four-time Pro Bowler pleaded not guilty to the charges. He is next scheduled to appear for a pretrial hearing on April 1.

The Steelers lost to the Texans in the wild-card round of the 2026 NFL playoffs at home. After Mike Tomlin stepped down as head coach, Aaron Rodgers and T.J. Watt cried, according to Mike DeFabo of The Athletic.

Rodgers has spoken with new Steelers head coach Mike McCarthy about playing next season. McCarthy coached Rodgers on the Green Bay Packers. The two won Super Bowl XLV against the Steelers.

"I love Mike, and Mike and I have kept in contact over the years," Rodgers said. "I've had conversations with Omar. I think Omar enjoyed having me there. I think the guys had a positive response to our time together. But again, there hasn't been any deadline set on me, there hasn't been any contract floated in front of me for me to, like, 'Well, we're giving you to March 8 to make a decision on this contract.' There's been nothing to that respect. … Interested in what the conversations will be, but there hasn't been any progression when it comes to that."
