New Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike McCarthy is a big fan of WR D.K. Metcalf.

New Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike McCarthy is looking forward to working with WR D.K. Metcalf.

While speaking to reporters on Tuesday, McCarthy raved about Metcalf.

"I don't really like to get into comparables because I've been so blessed to work with so many great players, but also just about DK, his skill set is top-notch," McCarthy said. "When you can take slants and different vertical routes to the house, he's so powerful and he's so strong. So just trying to get to know his strengths and how we can utilize him.

"We'll try to build a route menu for him particularly, not different than all of the conversations we've had about receivers because I think it's critical that they play the one position, the two position or the three position. So we'll continue to look at that for DK."

Metcalf had 59 receptions last season for 850 receiving yards and six receiving touchdowns. The 850 receiving yards were a career low for the two-time Pro Bowler.

Pittsburgh signed Metcalf to a four-year, $132 million extension after acquiring the WR from the Seattle Seahawks last year. However, Metcalf has no guaranteed money remaining on his contract.

Metcalf enters next season with 497 receptions, 7,174 receiving yards and 54 receiving touchdowns with the Seahawks and Steelers. The 28-year-old is one of the most talented wideouts in the NFL

The Steelers acquired Michael Pittman from the Indianapolis Colts this offseason. If future Hall of Famer Aaron Rodgers returns, Pittsburgh's offense could be very explosive in 2026.

Rodgers finished with 3,322 passing yards, 24 passing touchdowns and seven interceptions last season. He completed 65.7% of his passes.

The Steelers won the AFC North last season but lost to the Houston Texans in the wild-card round. McCarthy and Rodgers won Super Bowl XLV against Pittsburgh as members of the Green Bay Packers.
