The Pittsburgh Steelers could look to make a massive $96 million trade during the NFL offseason.
The Pittsburgh Steelers are heading into the NFL offseason with a few questions that need to be answered.
Most notably, the quarterback situation is a question mark. Aaron Rodgers played the 2025 NFL season on a one-year contract. He is a free agent once again this offseason.
While the Steelers could simply try to re-sign him, there is no guarantee that Rodgers will come back. He could choose to sign with another team or retire. If that happens, Pittsburgh would need to move quickly to find a replacement.
Also, the Steelers still have a need at the wide receiver position behind DK Metcalf. That was a clear issue last season that needs to be addressed.
Speaking of the wide receiver position, Pittsburgh has been linked as a potential favorite to pull off a massive $96 million blockbuster trade this offseason.
Mike J. Asti of Yardbarker has suggested the Steelers as one of the top trade suitors for Philadelphia Eagles star wideout AJ Brown.
"In all likelihood, the Steelers will probably look to find a receiver at a lower price," Asti wrote. "If they do want to go big, Brown doesn't have the personal baggage Tyreek Hill would bring with him."
Of course, the rumors of Tyreek Hill being a potential target for Pittsburgh have been floating around since the Miami Dolphins chose to release him. Brown would be a much better target than Hill, although the price tag on a trade with the Eagles could be high.
During the 2025 NFL season with Philadelphia, Brown's role was reduced. He played in 15 games, catching 78 passes for 1,003 yards and seven touchdowns. Those aren't bad numbers, but he was clearly unhappy with the role.
A change of scenery to the Steelers could be exactly what he needs to get back on track. Adding Brown would almost certainly make returning to Pittsburgh for another season more interesting to Rodgers as well.
Only time will tell whether or not the Steelers want to make this big of a blockbuster move. Brown would take the offense to new heights, but his attitude issues could be reason for Pittsburgh to pause.
Expect to hear plenty of rumors surrounding the Steelers this offseason. Brown is at least a name worth keeping an eye on for now.
