If the Pittsburgh Steelers trade T.J. Watt, here is where he could land.
In the wake of Ray Fittipaldo of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette telling 93.7 The Fan that the Pittsburgh Steelers should at least try to gauge what it could get for T.J. Watt, Gary Davenport of Bleacher Report revealed potential trade partners for the superstar.
Davenport believes the Los Angeles Chargers and Philadelphia Eagles should pursue a blockbuster trade for Watt.
"To be clear, moving Watt for anything less than a first-round pick—even with his sizable contract—would be selling low," Davenport wrote. "It is also fair to question whether the current version of the Steelers, even with Aaron Rodgers, profiles as a legitimate Super Bowl contender.
"Add in that the Steelers have an in-house replacement already on the roster in Nick Herbig, and maybe dealing Watt isn't so ludicrous after all. Potential Trade Partners: Los Angeles Chargers, Philadelphia Eagles."
Watt appeared in 14 games for the Steelers last season. He finished with seven sacks, 23 solo tackles, 10 tackles for loss and 19 QB hits.
Pittsburgh signed Watt to a three-year, $123 million extension last summer. Watt cried after Mike Tomlin stepped down as head coach, per Mike DeFabo of The Athletic. The Steelers lost to the Houston Texans in the Wild Card Round of the 2026 NFL playoffs
Former Green Bay Packers and Dallas Cowboys head coach Mike McCarthy is the new coach of the Steelers, the franchise with which Watt has spent his entire NFL career on. The future Hall of Famer has 115 sacks with Pittsburgh. The Wisconsin product has been to eight Pro Bowls in nine seasons and was named the 2021 Defensive Player of the Year.
It would certainly be strange to see Watt and the Steelers part ways this offseason, but with Tomlin no longer in charge, anything is possible.
Pittsburgh may not even be a contender next season since it's unknown if Aaron Rodgers will be back. It may be beneficial for Watt to play on a Super Bowl contender at this stage of his career.
