The Pittsburgh Steelers have traded up in the second round of the NFL Draft, sending the 53rd, 135th, and 237th picks to the Indianapolis Colts for the 47th overall pick to select wide receiver Germie Bernard.
This is a big move for the Steelers, as they add another weapon to their offense. The receiver core now includes DK Metcalf, Michael Pittman Jr, and Bernard.
Metcalf was solid in his first year in Pittsburgh, hauling in 59 receptions for 850 yards and six touchdowns. However, defenses were able to focus on him, but with new receivers coming in, it'll take pressure off him.
Pittman Jr has proven to be a capable weapon in the NFL, as he's coming off a season where he had 80 receptions for 784 yards and seven touchdowns.
The Steelers inked him to a three-year, $59 million deal, which now creates a great trio of weapons.
Bernard is coming off two productive seasons at Alabama, establishing himself as an intriguing weapon in the draft.

Bernard was even more productive in the 2025 season for Alabama, finishing with 64 receptions for 862 yards and seven touchdowns. He also rushed for 101 yards and two touchdowns on 18 carries.
General manager Omar Khan has been aggressive in improving their offense this offseason with the trade for Pittman Jr, the selection of Bernard, and the selection of offensive tackle Max Iheanachor in the first round.
With the offensive line and receiver room improving, the Steelers could make a deep playoff run in 2026 if Aaron Rodgers returns as their quarterback.
If Rodgers doesn't return, they will be leaning on Will Howard and third-round pick Drew Allar to emerge as a quality quarterback to lead them back into the postseason.
